ABA Therapy Services Available From Euro-Therapies

At Euro-Therapies, we recognize that each child with autism is distinct, with their unique blend of strengths, challenges, and boundless potential. As parents and caregivers, you understand that no two children are alike, and neither should their therapy be. We commit to providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy as individualized as your child.

Autism often brings a range of challenges, including difficulties with social interaction, communication, sensory processing, and behavior management. Families frequently seek effective, evidence-based strategies to support their child's development.

ABA Therapy is a proven, research-supported method that simplifies complex behaviors into smaller, more manageable tasks, facilitating learning and growth for children with autism.

At Euro-Therapies, our ABA Therapy is designed to offer customized, engaging experiences that make learning enjoyable and effective. We provide in-center therapy tailored to address your child's specific needs. What distinguishes our approach is our emphasis on a naturalistic, play-based method. We believe that learning through play enhances engagement and promotes better learning outcomes. Our skilled therapists create a supportive and safe environment where your child can excel.

What is ABA?

In simple terms, ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) is a scientific way of studying behavior. It's all about figuring out what makes us do certain things and how we can change those behaviors, if needed, for the better.

In our everyday lives, different things around us influence how we behave. Some things encourage certain behaviors, while others might make us less likely to do them. With ABA, we deliberately change the environment to help someone improve and learn new behaviors.

The main goal of ABA is to use behavior principles to help people develop essential and meaningful outcomes for themselves and their families. It's about making positive changes that matter in people's lives.

We aim not to treat autism but to help foster and strengthen skills to increase quality of life.

ABA is widely recognized as a medically necessary therapy for individuals with developmental disabilities. ABA is often prescribed by healthcare professionals and covered by insurance companies as an essential therapy for individuals with developmental disorders. Just like medicine is given to aid in symptoms when you are not feeling good, so ABA is provided to assist in challenges your child may face. Your doctor will tell you to finish all the medication or take it as prescribed; likewise, consistency in the treatment of ABA is crucial.

The ABA Process

Initial Interest/Intake

Pre-intake involves the initial inquiry of interest in having ABA services for your child. We will then use the information you gave us to inquire about your insurance and see the parameters included for ABA therapy. We will supply you with a form to fill out for "acknowledgment of insurance benefits," and a letter of medical necessity (Autism testing) will be obtained from you. You will be given an official intake packet to fill out and return to our office. The intake packet will outline our terms, policies, and additional information needed about our services and what to expect moving forward.

Insurance Pre-Authorization

Given ABA's intensity and long-term nature, most families utilize their health insurance to pay for these medically necessary services. Prior authorization indicates the level of care your insurance plan will cover for a specific treatment. It also suggested that you meet their medical-necessity criteria to receive that treatment. During the initial intake process, we will submit paperwork to the insurance company requesting pre-authorization of services. This is the first step of the process with the insurance company.

Informal and Direct Observation

While we (Behavior Analysts) complete this questionnaire with you, we will observe your child in their natural environment. This is an excellent opportunity to discreetly observe any behaviors you may have reported regarding your child's ability to request items or attention. At the same time, you're busy and how they play with their toys.

Caregiver Interview

The first assessment we will complete is questionnaires about your family and your child. This will include discussing any family history of diagnosis, developmental milestone progression, and delays in learning and about any medications or allergies. This will also be an excellent opportunity to discuss any concerning areas (i.e., Your child is not communicating using vocal words OR does not respond to one-step directions). We would also like to use this time to discuss any short- or long-term goals you have for your child and your family that may be considered for programming.

Direct Assessment of Skills

After we connect with you, we’ll schedule an appointment for a direct skills assessment. This is a fun, hands-on process where we work with your child in a comfortable setting, using engaging activities to see where their current skills are. Depending on your child’s age and abilities, we might use toys and games (it may just look like play, but we’re learning a lot!). We might also use books with pictures or words to help us understand their strengths and identify areas where they could use extra support.

Treatment Plan/Assessment Write-Up

After completing our observations and interviews, we will put together a summary of your child's current skills, behaviors, and the goals we recommend focusing on over the next six months. This write-up will also include our suggestions for how many therapy hours might be needed and what a typical session will look like. We’ll share this plan with you, explain everything in detail, and make sure that the goals align with what you want and what would be most beneficial for your child.

Insurance Approval

The next step involves sending this report to your insurance company for approval. This can take anywhere from 2 weeks to up to a month (time varies by insurance).

***Once the therapy hours are approved, we will identify staff, discuss scheduling, and prepare to start services.
