GRANT RESOURCES FOR SPECIAL NEEDS FAMILIES

Are you a caregiver of a child with special or medical needs? This resource page has grants to help with therapy and medical costs with associated travel, grants for medical/adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs or adaptive bikes, wish organizations, and other freebies to put a smile on your child’s face.

Most organizations below serve larger areas and have their criteria for referring a child for the geographical location they serve.

Therapy, Medical Expenses and More

  • Euro-Peds Foundation exclusively provides pediatric intensive physical therapy treatment and travel grants to our clinic, Euro-Therapies.
  • We Care Crusade Foundation aids families who have children with special needs by supporting forms of medical, physical, and emotional relief. The Lenn Foundation supports children with CP in receiving the pediatric therapies they need to thrive in their everyday lives.
  • Cerner Charitable Foundation helps children with health-related needs when insurance and other financial resources have been exhausted.
  • UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation offers grants for kids 16 years old or younger for services health insurance does not cover.
  • Alyssa V. Phillips Foundation assists children with cerebral palsy with therapies or other medical treatments that insurance doesn’t cover.
  • June Brandy Foundation assists families with children who have pediatric illnesses/disability.
  • Aubrey Rose Foundation assists families with medical expenses.
  • Snap4Kids provides modest grants to families in need.
  • Giving Angels Foundation awards grants to children with physical disability from lower-income families with life-changing equipment, medical supplies, essential family bills, specialized camps, and therapeutic toys.
  • Be Perfect Foundation offers financial assistance for individuals living with paralysis.
  • Aubrey’s Warriors Foundation provides financial assistance to families going through hardship due to illness.
  • Holton’s Heroes assists families affected by post-birth traumatic brain injury.
  • Building Blocks for Kids provides grants to children for health-related needs in Cincinnati, tri-state area.
  • Maggie Welby Foundation provides grants to families in need.
  • Mark’s Money gives grants to individuals with Down Syndrome residing in Tennessee or Indiana.
  • Birth Injury Center‘s mission is to assist anyone who has been affected by a birth injury. Their website is a compilation of information about the different types of injuries. We offer resources to assist the injured and their families. Cerebral Palsy is the most common motor disability for children, and it affects 1 in every 345 kids. That’s why we have information and resources specifically for those with CP and their families. 
  • Budding Behavior’s mission is to provide a service to children AND families in a way that leads to success and to give families a provider that understands their everyday life and uses that to provide excellent care—a world where children can BLOOM. Our vision is to provide clients and their families with the tools necessary for success and for all children with Autism to reach their full potential.

  • Variety of United States provides mobility, independence, and social inclusion equipment and services.
  • Wheelchairs 4 Kids provides assistive devices and medical equipment to families in need.
  • Project Mend refurbishes mobility devices and assists families with medical equipment needs.
  • Different Needz Foundation provides grants for medical equipment and services.
  • Wheel to Walk Foundation assists with equipment not provided by insurance.
  • McLindon Family Foundation provides adaptive bicycles for children with special needs. 
  • The Arya Foundation provides medical equipment such as ramps, special beds, and walking aides. 
  • MY GYM Challenged America provides grants for medical equipment and therapy equipment for families with special needs.
  • Stepping Stones for Stella provides buggies for children with special needs to enjoy the outdoors to its fullest.
  • FODAC provides refurbished equipment and services for disabled adults and children to improve their overall quality of life.
  • Two Angels Foundation provides adaptive recreational equipment for children with disabilities.
  • www.wheeltowalk.com is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children aged 21 and younger with special needs to obtain essential equipment or services such as leg braces, bath chairs, gait trainers, therapy tricycles, and wheelchairs.
  • The MORGAN Project provides tools for a therapeutic and fun experience for children with physical and developmental needs.
  • Ride to Give turns athletic ability into fundraising power for families with children who are disabled, injured, or ill.

First Hand Foundation provides financial assistance for medical care and vehicle modification.

Angel Flight offers free medical and compassion flights.


Seizure Support

The Danny Did Foundation provides seizure/epilepsy devices to children in need.

Chelsea Hutchison Foundation provides seizure monitoring and seizure assistance dogs.


Speech Therapy

Small Steps in Speech grant funds for speech and language disorder therapies.

iPads for Apraxia awards iPads and protective cases to aid in communication.

WISH ORGANIZATIONS

These organizations will grant a wish to a child with a life-threatening or sometimes chronic health condition. 


Make-A-Wish creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Dream Factory believes children with chronic illnesses and disorders also suffer from substantial emotional and physical pain.

Sunshine Foundation answers the dreams of children, ages three through eighteen, who have severe or profound physical/developmental/intellectual challenges and whose families cannot fulfill their requests due to the financial strain that the child’s illness may cause.

Kids Wish Network infuses hope, creates happy memories, and improves the quality of life for children experiencing life-altering situations.

Jason’s Dream for Kids is devoted to granting wishes to children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.

A Special Wish provides wishes to those under 21 years old with a medical problem considered to be life-threatening—a nationwide program with special consideration to OH residents.

Casey Cares provides wishes to patients in MD, PA, DE, NJ, VA, WV, or D

Do It For The Love provides musical wishes for children, teens, and adults.

  • Feel Better Friends sends children with cancer and other illnesses a crochet doll stuffed with love and well wishes.
  • Shadow Buddies will send a doll buddy to a child for emotional support.
  • Peach’s Neet Feet creates custom-decorated shoes for children with qualifying medical conditions.
  • Tiny Superheroes sends a cape to your little superhero.
  • Bianca’s Kids provides needed wishes for families.
  • Ween Dream collects and delivers Halloween costumes for children with medical conditions and children in need.
  • Sharing the Weight provides free weighted blankets to children who could benefit from one.
  • Room to Dream bedrooms are designed for children in need.
  • Songs of Love Foundation creates personalized, uplifting songs, free of charge, for children and teens currently facing tough medical, physical, or emotional challenges.

  • Dream Night: Check with your local Zoo to see if and when they participate in this great program reserved only for medical/special needs families.
  • Surf Dreams Foundation operates in various cities on the East Coast, helping children experience surfing for the first time.

  • Buckmaster’s Life Hunts provides a hunting experience for a child with a critical illness or severe disability.
  • Camp Sunshine is a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

  • Hunt of a Lifetime gives hunting and wishing dreams for children with life-threatening illnesses.
  • Outdoor Dream Foundation provides outdoor adventures for children with terminal or life-threatening illnesses.
  • Ride A Wave offers a special day at the beach for children with special needs.
  • United Special Sportsmen Alliance sends critically and terminally ill youth and disabled veterans on outdoor adventures.
  •  National Parks and Federal Recreational Land- Access pass gives free admission to all sites and discounts on amenities
  • The Center for Courageous Kids has free summer camps and family respite weekends.
  • David’s Refuge provides a place of respite for parents and guardians of children with special needs or life-threatening medical conditions to get refreshed, restored, and renewed in their caregiver role.

Many families from all over Michigan and other states travel to Euro-Therapies, an expansion of Euro-Peds, to attend two-, three-, and four-week intensive physical therapy programs.
